Another imaginary law made up by the folks at the Tempe City Library to justify them doing something that is illegal.

Tempe has a sign at the library saying that bicycles are NOT allowed in the library and that they will be seized by the Tempe Police if they are brought into the library.

The sign cites

Tempe City Code 22-4
for the legal reason bicycles are not in allowed in the library and why the Tempe Police can seize any bicycles brought into the library.

Looks like the rule that no bikes are allowed in the Tempe Library is an imaginary law made up by tyrannical govenrment burecrats that run the library.

When you read the Tempe City Code 22-4 it doesn't say ONE word about bicycles. Nor does it say one word about the library. Nor does it give the Tempe Police the authority to seize bicycles.

About the only thing Tempe City Code 22-4 says is you can't block "public ways". And that seems like it mostly applies to public streets, alleys, sidewalks and pathways. Not parking your bike next to the table you are sitting at in the library.

So I guess if you took your bicycle into the Tempe Public Library and threw it down in front of the door, it would be a violation this silly sign.

But other than that the sign posted by some tyrannical Tempe Library official seems to be a 100% BS, non existent law.

I guess the score is now:

Tempe Library government tyrants 1
Tempe taxpayers and serfs 0
This isn't the 1st imaginary law I have found in Tempe or other governments.

Most of the restrooms in the Tempe library have an imaginary law that says it's illegal to wash yourself in the restroom.

When you look up the Tempe City code on that, it says it's illegal to wash yourself in park lakes, not public restrooms.

Phoenix also has an imaginary law that makes it illegal for homeless people to bring their shopping carts into Phoenix city parks.

That law says something like

"No Shopping Carts Allowed"
When you read the actual Phoenix law it doesn't say a word about anything not being allowed in Phoenix parks.

It says that bicycles, skateboards, roller skates and other wheeled devices shall not be operated in Phoenix Parks in a manager that can endanger people.

It's looks like some hatefull, but clever *sshole in the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department twisted that laws around to ban shopping carts from Phoenix city parks.

I included a copy of the Tempe City Code 22-4.
