Legal pot sales begin in Nevada

List of all the marijuana stores in Nevada

This includes a list of all the marijuana stores in Nevada, at least in Clark, Nye and Washoe counties.

Nevada legalizes marijuana today.

But it has very little to do with ending the draconian laws on marijuana.

It's mostly a government welfare program to make a few special interest groups that sell recreational marijuana rich, and to shake down marijuana users for tons of taxes which go to the state of Nevada.

Another article I posted from the Las Vegas Review Journal said legal marijuana was selling for the rip off price of $400 an ounce.

If you want to legalize marijuana the right way say NO to all the rip off schemes offered by MPP (Marijuana Policy Project) and NORML and support the initiative pushed by RAD or Relegalize All Drugs:

Legal pot sales begin in Nevada

Big crowds greeted the beginning of legal recreational marijuana sales in Nevada on Saturday morning.

Forty dispensaries across Southern Nevada, including one each in Mesquite, Pahrump and Laughlin, have been approved by the state and local governments to begin selling. The sales became legal at 12:01 a.m., following November’s voter approval of ballot Question 2. Several dispensaries opened doors right at midnight. At Euphoria Wellness, 7780 S. Jones Blvd., a crowd of 400 to 500 people lined up. About the same time, Reef Dispensaries, 3400 Western Ave., lines snaked down the block and around the corner; people squeezed between tape and pylons waiting to get to the shop’s door.

State Sen. Tick Segerblom, D-Las Vegas, was in a Reef Dispensaries crowd, grinned for photos and drew applause. Segerblom, who has a strain of pot named for him.

Although several dispensaries opened at midnight Friday, some chose to open midmorning Saturday, keeping their normal hours.

Local zoning laws limited the first sales burst until 3 a.m.; stores had to close then but could reopen at 6 a.m.

By late morning Saturday, there were small lines outside of three dispensaries near Sahara Avenue and the Strip, Essence, Las Vegas Releaf and Oasis dispensaries. At the Source, 2550 S. Rainbow Blvd., customers were busy buying inside while about 100 waited outside.

Anticipating the big crowds, some shops strengthened security.

Silver Sage Wellness, a dispensary on West Charleston Boulevard, hired guards. The dispensary was been broken into three times since May, most recently on Thursday. “They just broke into the front door and got into our vault and stole about $30,000 worth of cannabis,” said Amed Donado, Silver Sage Wellness’ assistant manager and marketing administrator said Thursday. [$30,000 in stolen marijuana, let's see at $400 an ounce as it's selling for in Nevada ia a measly 4.6 pounds or 75 ounces]

Nevada joins Colorado, Oregon, Washington and Alaska as the only U.S. states with regulated and taxed marijuana markets.
