Looks like Mrs. Rita's psychic powers aren't as good as advertised.

Either way, I really do love the Gin Blossoms. Great band. Well, make that the old Gin Blossoms.

Larry was going to let me meet Doug Hopkins, but he killed himself shortly before. Sadly Larry was the guy that found his body.

And no, I didn't know that the Gin Blossoms made that house on University Drive next to Circle K famous.

Iconic psychic Mrs. Rita apparently didn’t see this one in the tarot cards. Her longtime downtown Tempe house is on the market for $2.9 million.

"Mrs. Rita" became famous when the Tempe band Gin Blossoms named a song after her in 1992. She has been renting the 1920s house for more than three decades.

The landmark site on University Drive just off Mill Avenue has already attracted several potential buyers, said Aaron Dutcher of MHG Commercial, who has the listing.

He said the property is zoned for commercial space and could sell before year end.

Mrs. Rita wasn’t aware the house was listed for sale, when called by The Arizona Republic Friday.

In addition to the song being named after her, Mrs. Rita is also mentioned in the Gin Blossom's refrain, “Tell me Mrs. Rita, what's it say in my tarot. Read my palm and tell me, why do lovers come and go."

One of the band’s founders and guitarist Jesse Valenzuela posted the listing for the property on his Facebook page a few days ago. His only comment: "Mrs Rita house for sale."

One of his friends posted, "sell me Mrs Rita..."

Michael Miller bought the property in 1991, long before the area become the trendy hotspot it is now. The purchase price wasn't listed on the public property record.

Dutcher said land around the house could be assembled for a bigger mixed-use development — hence the high price tag.

No word yet from Mrs. Rita about where the tarot cards are telling her to move.
