Here is more on that feud between the ALP and ALP Inc which occurred around the end of the 20th Century and the beginning of the 21st Century.

The ALP is the Arizona Libertarian Party and they are the good guys.

The ALP Inc is the Arizona Libertarian Party Incorporated and they are the bad guys.

A lawyer named Peter Schmerl in Tucson decided to take over the Arizona Libertarian Party and sadly he did.

Peter Schmerl created an Arizona corporation called ALP Inc. or the Arizona Libertarian Party Incorporated and used it to take over the Arizona Libertarian Party.

There was a lawsuit in it too which was

ALP vs ALP Inc - CV99-3904
And from that it looks like the lawsuit was filed in 1999.

Peter Schmerl creates ALP Inc to take over ALP

Back in 1998 Peter Schmerl created the Arizona Libertarian Incorporated or ALP Inc. in his attempt to take over the Arizona Libertarian Party or ALP.

Peter Schmerl then held an Arizona Libertarian Party, Inc convention in Phoenix (as required by law) and in the month of January (as required by law), and attended by precinct committee members as required by law.

From what I was told Peter Schmerl then went to the Arizona Secretary of State and told her he because his ALP Inc obeyed the law that his ALP Inc. was now the official Arizona Libertarian Party because his ALP Inc complied with Arizona elections law while the evil ALP continued to refuse to obey Arizona elections law.

I was told that the Arizona Secretary of State more or less told Peter Schmerl to buzz off.

I was told that Peter Schmerl then filed a lawsuit against folks in the Arizona Libertarian in his attempt to take over the ALP.

The data on the copy of the lawsuit which I have conflicts with what I was told. That lawsuit seems to be filed not by Peter Schmerls ALP Inc, but by Helen Purcel who is the Maricopa County Recorder.

2000 Arizona Libertarian Presidential Election

The lawsuit between the two Arizona Libertarian Parties also so effected the 2000 Presidential election.

In Arizona the ALP placed their candidate L Neil Smith on the ballot while in the other 49 states Harry Browne was on the Libertarian ballot.

The National Libertarian Party and the ALP Inc both sued the ALP in an attempt to force ALP to put Harry Browne on the Arizona ballot as the Libertarian Presidential candidate.
