Man shot by FBI agent doing back flip at downtown Denver bar

And the FBI agent left after the shooting and didn't help the guy

Hmmm ... Didn't know that.

The federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA), enacted in 2004, allows qualified current law enforcement officers and qualified retired law enforcement officers to carry a concealed firearm in any jurisdiction in the United States, regardless of state or local laws

On the other hand I know know the police are rarely if every charged with crimes which other people would be arrested for and spend decades in prison for.

So nothing new here.

Man accidentally shot by off-duty FBI agent doing back flip at downtown Denver bar

Rick Jervis, USA TODAY Published 8:07 a.m. MT June 3, 2018

His dance moves were a killer. But his back flip could have proved fatal.

An off-duty FBI agent was impressing a crowd at a downtown Denver distillery and bar with dance moves and an improvised back flip — until his handgun tumbled out of his waistband holster and a round went off as he picked it up, injuring another clubgoer.

The victim was hit in the lower leg and taken to a local hospital but is expected to be OK, according to Denver Police.

The incident occurred at around 12:35 a.m. at Mile High Spirits, a cavernous distillery and tasting bar that makes bourbon whiskey, tequila and gin and also hosts live bands and "DJ-fueled weekend dance parties," according to its website.

The FBI agent, who hasn't been identified, was questioned at Denver Police headquarters before being released to an FBI supervisor, according to KUSA-TV in Denver. Denver Police’s homicide unit is handling the investigation, and charges will be determined by the Denver District Attorney’s Office, it said.

Video of the incident showed the agent, dressed in khaki pants and a dark shirt, showing off dance moves as a crowd formed a circle around him. He ended his dance display with a back flip, and the video shows the gun tumble out of his waistband holster. As the agent retrieved the firearm, it is seen firing into the crowd at floor-level. The agent then walks off the dance floor.

It’s unclear whether the FBI agent had been drinking and authorities are awaiting results of blood tests to determine whether alcohol was a factor, according to CBS Denver. They are also reviewing videotape of the incident.

The federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA), enacted in 2004, allows qualified current law enforcement officers and qualified retired law enforcement officers to carry a concealed firearm in any jurisdiction in the United States, regardless of state or local laws, with certain exceptions, according to the National Rifle Association.

Though uncommon, there have been past instances where federal agents' gun have discharged in public places. In August, an agent with Immigration and Customs Enforcement on vacation accidentally shot himself while going through a security line at Orlando International Airport. The agent was hit in the left foot when his service weapon became dislodged from its holster.

Remember only trained professionals like the police and FBI should be allowed to have guns.

Just joking, but that's what a lot of gun grabbers say.

I suspect like in most other cases, the cops will investigate themselves and find the FBI agent did nothing wrong.

Of course if a civilian had don't the same thing I suspect he would already be charged with a whole slew of crimes.

Here is a link to one of the videos I have seen of it on Facebook

Off-duty FBI agent allegedly shot a man accidentally after gun falls on dance floor in Denver bar

By Elizabeth Hernandez | ehernandez@denverpost.com | The Denver Post

PUBLISHED: June 2, 2018 at 2:28 pm | UPDATED: June 3, 2018 at 7:36 am

An off-duty FBI agent allegedly accidentally shot a man in the leg early Saturday after the agent’s gun fell from his holster on the dance floor of Mile High Spirits, according to a Denver police news release.

“The victim was transported to the hospital with a good prognosis,” the news release read.

The name of the agent wasn’t released because he hasn’t been charged, said Marika Putnam, a Denver police spokeswoman.

The man who was shot remains in the hospital Saturday afternoon.

“He appears to have non-life threatening injuries,” Putnam said.

Video of the incident obtained by Denver7 shows a man alleged to be the FBI agent dancing while surrounded by onlookers and then executing a backflip. During the flip, the gun appears to fly out of the man’s holster. The man in the video jumps to pick up the firearm and appears to fire the gun in the process. The man puts the gun back away in the back of his pants and holds up his hands as onlookers appear shocked and scared.

“When the agent retrieved his handgun, an unintended discharge occurred,” the release read.

The agent was taken to Denver police headquarters and was released to an FBI supervisor. The incident is being investigated by the Denver police homicide unit. Charges will be determined by the Denver district attorney’s office.
