Yes, marijuana criminal defense attorney or lawyer Tom Dean is a big talker and claims he wants to legalize marijuana. But does Safer Arizona's Tom Dean really want to make marijuana legal? Based on the initiatives Tom Dean writes to legalize marijuana it sure looks like Tom Dean would prefer to keep marijuana as illegal as possible. When me, Alex and Dave wrote the initial Safer Arizona initiative to legalize marijuana it was almost 100% legalization of marijuana. We had two exceptions. We put an age limit of 21 on it. We also allowed the government to slap a small sales tax on marijuana. But once Tom Dean got involved in writing the initiative he gutted it and added numerous exceptions making marijuana illegal. And of course I was kicked off of the Safer Arizona board of directors, probably because of my position demanding that marijuana be made 100% illegal. I suspect that Tom Dean was the person who got me kicked off of the Safer Arizona Board of directors. There are probably two reasons, that I suspect Tom Dean wants to keep marijuana illegal. The first and foremost reason is Tom Dean's law firm makes money every time a person arrested for a victimless marijuana crime hires Tom Dean to defend them against the governments tyrannical marijuana laws. Second Tom Dean's law firm also represents the firms involved in the legal medical marijuana cartel. It sounds like Tom Dean wants marijuana just legal enough so his buddies in the legal medical marijuana cartel can sell cannabis. But illegal enough so the the police can arrest and jail anybody that cuts into the legal medical marijuana cartel profits by growing or selling marijuana. And of course so Tom Dean's law firm can make money defending some of those poor suckers who were arrested for cutting into the Arizona legal marijuana cartel. The Arizona legal marijuana cartel also seems to be represented by the Arizona Dispensary Association (ADA) and the Marijuana Industry Trade Association (MITA).
